How to transfer CorelDRAW to a new computer

Transfer Google Chrome From One Computer To Another

So you’re a user of Corel DRAW, a versatile vector graphics suite developed for editing 2D images, be it for work or a hobby. One day, you decide to move or copy this software, all of its components, and related files to another computer.

In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to migrate the entire CorelDRAW suite (CorelDRAW, Corel PHOTO-PAINT, CAPTURE, Corel Font Manager, AfterShot), as well as all of your custom and default files.

These include formats like CDR (the default CorelDRAW file format), EPS, SVG, PDF, DXF, DWG, RAW, TIFF files (and all the other supported files), vector images, presets, plugins, fonts, symbols, logos, illustrations, print layouts, default and custom palettes, custom drop shadows, macros, outline types, command customizations, hotkeys, default new documents, and others.

The migration of CorelDRAW can be done in two ways – manually or automatically. The latter involves having transfer software do all the work for you, making it the much quicker and easier option of the two.

We will cover both in this guide, although if you prefer to just skip to the easier, automatic option, you can click here for automatic transfer of CorelDraw from one computer to another.

Manual transfer of the Corel suite to a new computer

This section will present a list of steps for manual migration of the CorelDRAW suite to another device. If you’d rather just skip this and just go for the automatic option now, just click here to see how it’s done.

If you still want to manually migrate your CorelDRAW apps from one computer to another, follow these steps:

  • Make sure you have an external hard drive or cloud storage with enough space.
  • Copy to your external storage all the files and extras (like macros) stored in your CorelDRAW folder (/Draw/GMS or similar) as well as workspaces with customizations and shortcuts (Tools/Options/Workspace/Export), from your first (old) computer.
  • Note that some of your macros and plugins will have to be installed again on the second (new) computer.
  • If you had purchased a download version of your software (as opposed to the boxed version), download it on your second computer from your account at com, under “Your Order Status & History”.
  • Install the CorelDRAW suite to your new computer. This will install only the software, so you’ll have to transfer all your custom files separately into their appropriate folders.
  • Copy the related files, documents, and extras from your external storage into the appropriate folders that were created with this installation on your second computer.
  • Install the rest of the macros and plugins that couldn’t have been moved from folders on your first computer.
  • Make sure to run the suite on your new computer for a while to make sure everything’s working properly.
  • You can keep everything on your old machine as a backup (we recommend this, just in case your new installation crashes and you have to start all over again) or uninstall CorelDRAW from it.
  • If you choose to uninstall, make sure you’re connected to the Internet and signed in. This way, your installed count is removed from the record (decommissioned), allowing you to later install CorelDRAW on additional devices, should you ever need it.

You have now finally transferred your CorelDRAW suite and all of its components to your new machine, so you can continue with your work.

Now, the above-described method does have some advantages – mainly the fact that it’s free. However, it’s very exhausting and requires that you set aside at least a few hours (depending on how many files and documents you have) to migrate everything properly.

Also, ‘everything’ can include quite a lot: your images, presets, plugins, fonts, symbols, logos, illustrations, print layouts, palettes, drop shadows, macros, outline types, command customizations, and so on.

All of these files require plenty of space on your external drive or cloud storage, which isn’t always available. Also, copying something into the wrong place can crash your entire app and cause irreparable damage if you haven’t backed everything up. Luckily, there’s a considerably faster and simpler way to get it done.

How to transfer CorelDraw to a New Computer – Automatically

CorelDRAW can also be transferred automatically, saving you time and energy so you can dedicate it where it’s needed – doing your job. You can do this using dedicated automated software called Zinstall WinWin. It doesn’t require as many elaborate steps as in the manual method, so you’ll be ready to do your job in no time. Here’s what you’ll need to do:

  1. Download and run Zinstall WinWin on your current computer (the one you are transferring Corel from).
Note: You can get Zinstall WinWin here.
  2. Download and run Zinstall WinWin on the new computer
    1. You don’t need to do any configurations for the computers to connect – it’s automatic
    2. If the computers are already connect to same router, same Internet connection, or same wireless connection, you don’t need anything else
    3. If the computers are not connected at all, connect them with a network / Ethernet cable
  3. If you’d like to select which applications and files you want to transfer, press the Advanced menu. If you just want to transfer everything, you don’t need to go to the Advanced menu.
  4. Press “Go” on the new computer to start the transfer

That’s it!

All of your CorelDRAW apps, files, documents, and customizations have now been copied and can be accessed on your second computer. The best part? You didn’t even have to copy anything yourself.

The automatic transfer described above isn’t just a great way to move your CorelDRAW suite from one computer to another, but also all of your CDR files, drawings, presets, settings, and every other related file.

But it doesn’t stop there. Zinstall WinWin is also an ideal method to migrate just about anything else. This includes all of your other apps, customizations, settings, profiles, registry entries… basically duplicate your entire machine – and make it feel like home.
