How to Transfer From Desktop To Laptop – including programs, profiles, settings and files
In this article, we will see how to transfer programs, settings and files from desktop to laptop.
When you get a new laptop to replace your desktop computer, transferring everything is of course one of the first things you need to do. Just switching from an old “tower” computer style to a new laptop is a big enough change; you don’t want to also lose all of your stuff. So you need to make the laptop feel like home, with your programs and apps, your accounts, profiles, and settings, and all of your files and data.
Fortunately, there is a way to transfer everything from desktop to laptop automatically – using a dedicated transfer tool called Zinstall WinWin.
It allows to transfer to a completely different computer, different hardware and different Windows, such as for example transferring installed programs from a Windows 10 Lenovo desktop to a Windows 11 HP laptop.
There are 3 parts that are important to the transfer:

How to transfer from desktop to laptop
- Download and run Zinstall WinWin on your desktop computer (the one you are transferring from).

- You don’t need to do any configurations for the computers to connect – it’s automatic
- If the computers are already connect to same router, same Internet connection, or same wireless connection, you don’t need anything else
- If the computers are not connected at all, connect them with a network / Ethernet cable
- If you’d like to select which of your installed programs and files you want to transfer, use the Advanced menu. If you just want to transfer everything, you don’t need to go to the Advanced menu.
- Press “Go” on the laptop to start the transfer from the desktop
That’s it! Once done, you have everything transferred from desktop to laptop, including your programs, settings and files. Your laptop is now ready for use.
