How to Transfer Adobe Creative Cloud to a New Computer (Apps, Presets and Plugins)

Transfer Adobe Creative Cloud to a new computer

Moving your Adobe Creative Cloud setup – Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Lightroom – to a new computer? Half of the job is easy, and Adobe handles it. The other half is where people lose years of customization. Here is both halves.

The easy half: the apps themselves

  1. On the new computer, install the Creative Cloud desktop app and sign in with your Adobe ID.
  2. Install your apps from the Creative Cloud app.
  3. If you hit the activation limit (CC allows sign-in on two machines), sign out on the old computer – or deactivate it from your Adobe account page.

The half Adobe doesn’t move

Signing in gives you fresh installs. It does not bring:

  • Presets, brushes, actions, styles, swatches and custom workspaces
  • Third-party plugins and their licenses
  • Application preferences and performance settings
  • Local Lightroom Classic catalogs and any files stored outside Cloud sync

You can chase each of those through the various AppData and Adobe folders by hand – or move the whole working environment at once.

Moving everything at once

Zinstall WinWin transfers your applications with their settings, presets, plugins and all your files – automatically. Note that Creative Cloud apps still verify your subscription: you will sign in with your Adobe ID on the new computer, and everything else is already in place, exactly as you left it.

How to transfer your Adobe setup to the new computer

  1. Run Zinstall WinWin on your current computer (the one you are transferring from).
Note: You can get Zinstall WinWin here.
  2. Run Zinstall WinWin on the new computer
    1. You don’t need to do any configurations for the computers to connect – it’s automatic
    2. If the computers are already connect to same router, same Internet connection, or same wireless connection, you don’t need anything else
    3. If the computers are not connected at all, connect them with a network / Ethernet cable
  3. If you’d like to select which applications and files you want to transfer, press the Advanced menu. If you just want to transfer everything, you don’t need to go to the Advanced menu.
  4. Press “Go” on the Windows 11 or Windows 10 computer to start the transfer

That’s it!

Once the transfer is done, your Adobe apps, presets, plugins and projects will be on the new computer – just like on the old one.
