So you’ve purchased a new HP computer and you want to have all your documents, settings, and apps transferred from your old PC. Whether it is an HP Pavilion, Envy, Spectre, Omen or EliteBook – the question is the same: how do you move your stuff over?
Does HP have its own migration tool?
Unlike Lenovo (which offers a Migration Assistant), HP does not ship a migration tool of its own for current computers. HP’s support pages point you to the standard Windows options – signing into your Microsoft account, OneDrive, or copying files with an external drive.
Those options move files – and only files. Your programs, accounts, settings, emails, and everything that makes the computer feel like yours stay on the old PC, waiting to be reinstalled and reconfigured by hand.
How to actually transfer everything to the new HP
The way to transfer your programs, settings, profiles and files to the new HP is to use a dedicated transfer tool – Zinstall WinWin.

- Press “Go” on the new HP computer to start the transfer
